Michael “Mickey” Staiano

Mickey Staiano is a Marine Corps. brat growing up mostly in California and Oahu, Hawaii. He moved to Colorado to finish high school many years ago at Rangeview High School in Aurora. He was first exposed to volleyball during his father’s Marine squadron liberty events, but didn’t catch the volleyball bug until he found grass court student recreation events at Colorado State University. He carried the bug until it grew into a passion as his first daughter started playing in 3rd grade and his second daughter started playing a few years later at the same age. His passion for the game still exists and grows 10+ years of coaching later. As a teen, he started to coach younger children in his first sports of bowling and golf and has continued this journey as a result of excellent and dedicated coaching from his mentors while in college to his personal and professional life today. Mickey considers himself a teacher first and a volleyball coach second. He is passionate about fostering leadership in young adults and teaching life lessons through the team focused sport of volleyball. Mickey feels blessed to be in a position where he can continue to learn and also pass his knowledge to future generations. He considers himself to be an open, compassionate and sensible coach who demands commitment to team and maximum effort while maintaining a positive attitude. Coach Mickey enjoys time with his awesome wife (Renee) and daughters Laura and Michelle, he enjoys his “day job”, traveling for business and pleasure and spending time with friends when not on the court.
